"Resonant Threads"

Pocket Utopia presents "Resonant Threads" by Traci Johnson, Stephen Shanabrook, with Fiona Gray curated by Shayan Nazarian

Traci Johnson's textile sculptures and Femi rugs explore womanhood beyond societal norms. Her vibrant, abstract creations serve as both artistic expressions and reflections of influential women in her life. A native of Brooklyn and a FIT graduate, Traci's work intersects mental health, art, and fashion subcultures, offering a nurturing sanctuary through colors and forms.

Stephen J. Shanabrook's "Trash Flowers" series reinvents discarded plastic into meaningful collages, reflecting his inspirations from Arte Povera and Surrealist traditions and dumpsters. Plastic, the very detritus of our society harassing Mother Nature to its core, is the source of these simple yet eloquent flowers that spring forth as fossils of our time.

Fiona Gray, a California native now based in Chicago, brings a diverse tapestry of ideas to her art. Her experimental sketches and paintings, inspired by cinematic techniques, capture the ephemeral nature of light and the complexity of human narratives.
